The Natal City Tour is an ideal opportunity to quickly become familiar with downtown Natal and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
On your route you will see the lighthouse of Mae Luiza and the first beach of Natal, 'Areia Preta', named after the black colored sand in this area. We will stop here at Praia do Meio to take pictures and to take a look at the statue of Iemanjá, queen of the sea and the patron saint of the fishermen.
Then we will go up into the city, where you have a wonderful view over all of the beaches of Natal and the fort.
In the town itself, you can see the old Ribeira Theatre, the fishing port, the railway station and the old and new cathedral, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, who is also responsible for the layout of the capital Brasilia.
Along the way you will also see a few old colonial buildings, before we arrive at the Centro do Turismo, a former prison that now serves as a tourist centre. Here you can find many craftsmanshops where you can buy a lot of different types of handicrafts.
We will then go down to the old town, where the locals do their shopping, so you can see an authentic Brazilian fruit and vegetable market. The tour ends with a ride along the football stadium and the huge shopping mall of Natal. We will end upon the boulevard of Ponta Negra.
